WHAT TO EAT: ALL THE ICE CREAMZ!!
EATER TIP: Follow their social media for latest flavor updates / closed SUN+WED

My first trip to Kansha Creamery was (drum roll please)... a FAILURE (womp womp).

It was early evening on a Tuesday when Stacy suggested that we try this place, and I was like "cool, let's get some ice cream, yo" and so we went.

Upon arriving, I parked and noticed the shop looked dark inside. "Oh, must be one of those places — a mysterious, gothic-like take on an ice cream shop, that's new... I dig it I dig it."

But no, they were closed.
Done for the day.
NO SWEETS FOR YOU!!

As you can see, the shop closed early that day because they had SOLD OUT of ice cream — not an uncommon occurrence here, apparently, and I soon found out why after my next visit was fortunately a successful one.

Just a few days later, making sure to head over early in the day, I stepped foot inside the creamery and I was excitingly relieved.

Time to see what this place is all about.

SIMPLICITY AT ITS YUMMIEST —  Drawing inspiration from the neighborhood lemonade stand, Kansha's chalkboard menu rivals that of In-N-Out's for its bare bones approach. If you see someone spend more than 1 minute deciding what to get, do me a favor and smack a fresh durian pie in their FACE. (Bonus: If you look closely, you can see lil bro, James Tatsuya, doing his best Wilson impersonation from Home Improvement. Kansha is run by James and his sister, Elaine Yukari.)

CHARITY + COMMUNITY — In one corner of the shop, next to a scrumptious ice cream portrait, were adorable drawings from some sort of Kids' Flavor Contest. The word "kansha" in Japanese translates to "gratitude", and Kansha Creamery donates a percentage of sales to charities around the world.

PINTS FOR DAYS —   Ended up buying 5 pints to take home. My favorites from this bunch were Mr. Universal (oatmeal cookie, caramel) and the House Vanilla, of course.
